calendar photo contest

Do you enjoy taking photos of the beautiful Blackstone River Valley? If so, the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, Inc. has a contest for you. The nonprofit is searching for special images that capture the spirit and beauty of the Corridor to illustrate its 2015 Calendar.

The 2015 Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor Calendar will be a full 8.5 by 11 inches, printed in color on high quality paper. The informative publication will have great pictures from around the region, holidays, moon phases, and interesting tidbits about the history, flora and fauna of the Corridor. The 2015 Calendar will be available through our website and at the Corridor office at One Depot Square in Woonsocket, RI. Proceeds from the sale of the Calendar will support the programs and projects of the nonprofit.

A total of 13 photos will be selected to illustrate the Calendar, including a Grand Prize Photo chosen for the cover. Winners of the Calendar Photo Contest will be given 6 copies and their photo will be printed with their name and photo title. The photographer selected to illustrate the cover will also have a photo op and press release about their work, in addition to receiving 12 copies of the 2015 Calendar.

Each photograph must be an unaltered high-resolution color digital image, sized to 8 x 10 inches. The subject should illustrate an aspect of the natural and cultural resources of the Blackstone River Valley. The photo can be a close up, long shot, or aerial shot but must be taken in one of the 24 communities in the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Subject matter can include one of the valley sites (click on the menu on the right to see the valley sites in each Corridor city or town), recreation sites, the bikeway, the Blackstone River (or other Blackstone Corridor landscapes objects, flora, fauna or historic artifacts). Photos may have been taken at any time prior to or during the contest.

Anyone can enter the 2015 Calendar Photo Contest and contestants are encouraged to submit a wide variety of subjects. Fill out one entry form per photo submitted and deliver them via email. There is a limit of five entries per person. All submissions will become the property of Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, Inc.

Submissions are due by email no later than noon on September 30, 2014. Send to [email protected], subject line “Calendar Photo Contest.”

Winners of the 2015 Calendar Photo Contest will be selected in a blind competition by the nonprofit staff who are ineligible to enter.

We strongly believe that the resources and stories of the Blackstone Valley are so important that Congress should establish a National Park here.
